意味が通じず、互いに首をかしげる場面は一度や二度ではないのだ。
僕はそれなりに会話をこなしているつもりだったが、
ロサンゼルスでは日本訛全開の「ロスアンゼルス」を
使いまくっていたが、デニスに実際に突っ込まれるまでは
誰一人として指摘してくれなかったもんで、
恐らく周囲の人々には「何を言っているんだ、この日本人は？」
と訝しがられていたに違いない。
そもそも、日本語という言語は、英語だけでなく、
他国の言語が混ざり込んでおり、これがまた混乱を助長する。
パンはフランス語だし、テーマはドイツ語から借りてきたものだ。

考えてみれば、日本語は、世界中からの寄せ集めの宴会場の
ようなものかもしれない。
いや、そうだとしても宴会ではせめて
お互いが何を話しているのか理解したいものだ。

I thought I was conversant in my own way, but in Los Angeles,

but no one pointed it out to me until Dennis actually interrupted me.
I am sure that the people around me must have wondered,
"What is this Japanese guy talking about?
The Japanese language is a mixture of not only English
but also other languages, which again adds to the confusion.

元バーテンダーで、現在は休職中らしく、時間があったみたいで僕の企画に付き合ってくれました。
彼女だけじゃないんですが、ロシア人は本当にいい人たちばかりで、僕が「ロシアの手料理を食べたい」と言うと、
「じゃあ家においで、作ってあげるから」と家に招待してくれたのもいい思い出。
そこでのことも漫画に描きます。
ちなみに旅行好きで、11月に中国に行くか日本にくか迷ってると言っていたので
「100%日本やろ！」と激推ししてたんですが、連絡なし。
果たして来るのか。
ちなみにルバに協力してもらったショート動画を送ったら「かっこええやん」って喜んでました。

ロサンゼルスの歩道はとにかく広大。
反対側の車線に渡るにはかなりの時間がかかり、
信号もなかなか変わりません。
基本的に車社会で、歩行者はほとんど見かけません。
日本人からしたら結構びっくりする光景。
歩行者にとっては非常に不便な場所。
夜になると、その状況はさらに悪化します。
日本は歩行者が多いため、
夜道でも明るいことが多いですが、
アメリカは、ロサンゼルスのような大都市でも、
夜の道は暗い！
しかも漫画に描いたような、
蓋のない大きなマンホールがそのまま放置されてたりする…
アメリカ人が大雑把なのか、
それとも日本人が几帳面すぎるのかは分かりませんが、
こうした状況を見ると、
日本の道ってしっかり整備されてるなー、
って関心しますね。

ベリーズについて詳しく教えてくれました。
自分の地元の国を激推しするのは、旅あるあるですね。
でも日本人が日本を強く推すことは
あまりないように感じます。
日本ももっとアピールして良いと思います。
特に日本の食文化は素晴らしくて、
コストパフォーマンスにおいては世界でダントツの一位だと
自信を持って言えます。
僕は海外で出会った人には、
日本では回転寿司に行け！と勧めています。
また、外国の方とは政治や歴史について話す機会も多いです。
日本人はあまり政治的な話をしない傾向がありますよね。
まあアメリカでも特にトランプ政権以降、
共和党支持者と民主党支持者で
家族内でも意見が分かれることがあり、
政治的な話題を避けることが増えているようですが。

leading to a similar trend of avoiding political discussions.
